Another Premier League season is upon us, and with it comes the 11th edition of WaFFLe, WAGNH’s Fantasy Football League. Registrations are open from July 21st until July 31st, and we expect all drafts to be completed by August 13th.

For the uninitiated, WaFFLe is our head-to-head draft fantasy league featuring 72 managers across six divisions. Think of it as a thrilling contest where only one manager in each division can own a particular player. It’s like a game of musical chairs, but with more strategy and fewer kids’ party tunes.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Our draft format is the classic snake draft: if you pick last in the first round, you pick first in the next. It’s designed to keep things fair and to prevent any one manager from stockpiling all the top players – nobody wants a fantasy football hoarder.

Scoring is a bit more intricate than your standard FPL. Alongside goals and assists, we track stats like tackles, interceptions, and key passes. It’s a deeper dive into the beautiful game, and the full scoring details are available on the Fantrax league’s summary page for those who love a good rulebook.

The waiver system remains unchanged from last season. Managers bid for available players, and the highest bid wins. If two bids are tied, we invoke the tie-breaker order, initially set as the reverse of the draft order. It’s like a silent auction, but with more spreadsheets.

Each manager has a budget of 60, with 30 available at the start and another 30 added after the summer transfer window closes. Consider it your fantasy war chest.

HOW TO JOIN:

To join, click the link here and fill out the registration form. The form has multiple sections, so make sure to fill in all the fields. Returning players will need additional information from their Fantrax accounts, such as team name and division. If a returning player fails to submit this information, they will automatically be added to the waitlist. New users will also be added to a waitlist.

Once signups close on July 31st, you’ll receive a confirmation email if you’ve secured a place in this season’s league. A follow-up post will announce all the divisions a few days after the deadline. Upon confirmation, you’ll be added to a group email with everyone in your division to schedule a draft time convenient for everyone. The league is most enjoyable when all managers are active and engaged.
