Celtic have reportedly been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Hugo Bueno. The 21-year-old was a target for Brendan Rodgers as he looked for defensive reinforcements but it appears that Wolves are unlikely to sanction a move.

According to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph, the Premier League side are unwilling to allow the Spaniard to depart at present.

Speaking on Twitter/X, Joseph provided the update that means that Celtic will likely need to return to the drawing board.

UPDATE: Wolves are not interested in letting Hugo Bueno leave the club at this stage of the window.

It’s understood Celtic are one of a number of clubs who have approached Wolves to take the left-back on loan this summer.

The Hoops remain keen on the 21yo.

It is believed that the clubs had held discussions but Wolves made it clear that they weren’t convinced to allow Bueno to leave the club, even on a temporary basis.

Celtic are in the market for a second left back to compete with Greg Taylor but the update means that the club will likely have to look elsewhere.
