West Ham are edging closer to signing a striker who’s failed to reach double digits in his last 9 campaigns.

In today’s market, finding a quality striker for a decent fee is harder than ever. West Ham have tried and failed to find someone to replace Michail Antonio for years now with absolutely no success.

However, they’ve got a new recruitment team led by Tim Steidten, and a new manager who’s system should allow different types of forwards to flourish. Hopefully, they can find the perfect fit for Lopetegui, but it’s hard to imagine that will be someone who’s not managed to score 10 league goals in a single campaign for nearly a decade.

Although he’s played for some massive clubs, Arkadiusz Milik has failed to really do a job at any of them since leaving Ajax. The one exciting youth prospect is now 30-years-old and has been a decent impact sub for Juventus over the past two campaigns.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, are in the “front row” to secure the Polish international’s signature. For the rumoured £5 million that he’s demanding, he could be a great backup option, assuming that’s all he’d be. Frustratingly though, with how this window has gone so far, you’d have to question whether the Hammers would be able to sign another striker or not.

When the club are reportedly haggling over £5 million for a player like Aaron Wan-Bissaka, when his asking price is already as low as £15 million, it just doesn’t make sense, particularly when they’ve got two decent backup options already.
