All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea and Tottenham.

Chelsea and Tottenham are hard at work building their respective squads for the new season, which is fast approaching. The Blues are currently Stateside and struggling to impress in their pre-season friendlies, while Tottenham are enjoying a better time of things in Japan.

Time is running out as the start of the new season approaches, and we are likely to see a number of new arrivals at both clubs before the start of the new campaign. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding both clubs.

Chiesa update

Chelsea are said to have opened talks over the signing of Juventus star and reported Tottenham target Federico Chiesa. According to Team Talk, the Blues have already begun talks with the Italy international’s agent, and with Chiesa having been offered to Premier League clubs this summer.

Chiesa is said to be demanding £130,000 per week, and it’s claimed Juventus will ask for around £20million to agree a deal, with the asking price having dropped significantly over recent months, according to reports in Italy.

Speaking of reports in Italy, Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Chiesa’s agent has already flown to London and that he will discuss possible terms with Tottenham, with the race for the winger hotting up.

McTominay suggestion

Former Tottenham man Alan Hutton believes Spurs should target a deal for Manchester United star Scott McTominay with Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher seemingly off the table.

He told Football Insider: “I think it would suit him because he’s high energy, and that’s when you get the best of him. You see from Scotland games when he’s allowed to burst forward when he’s allowed to get forward, he can score goals and he can assist.

“He can close down, he wins the ball back high up the pitch and I think that’s what Ange likes. You see him doing it a lot for Scotland, he doesn’t do it as much for Manchester United because he’s being asked to play a different type of way.

“Fees, it’s going to be probably £30million or above, with the experience that he’s got, he’s still at a decent age he’s got a lot of football in him. He gives you something else. We talk about Conor Gallagher and how much he’s worth, and he’s a little bit younger to be fair, but Scott McTominay gives you the same kind of attributes as well. He would be a real good addition to an Ange team and he would fit in seamlessly.”

Townsend prediction

Andy Townsend has claimed Chelsea are likely to finish outside the top six, although he admits it is a tough one to call given the uncertainty surrounding the Blues following the change of manager this summer.

“Honestly, honestly, I think they are going to be very, very difficult to predict,” Townsend told TalkSPORT. “Hand on heart, I don’t see them top four and I probably would see them maybe just outside the top six, maybe, just outside the top six.”
