Manchester United swooped to land the player back in 2019

Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy has said Harry Maguire ‘won’t be leaving’ United this summer, as per an interview with The United Stand, via their X account. Erik ten Hag is keen to keep hold of the centre-back in this window ahead of the 2024/25 season.

There have been question marks over whether the centre-back would be staying put over the next couple of months or leaving for a new challenge elsewhere. In this latest update regarding his situation, journalist Reddy has suggested he will be sticking around.

United landed Maguire, who is 31-years-old, back in 2019 and his experience will come in handy ahead of the next campaign. He has made 206 appearances in all competitions and has scored 11 goals from the back.

The Sheffield-born man has recently had this to say, as per an interview with Sky Sports: "Unless the club tell me I'm up for sale or I'm not wanted there anymore. Everything I've heard and the action I've been shown from the club, I'm part of the future and it is time to crack on and make this club successful again, challenging for the big trophies. That's what this club demands."

He has had his injury problems over recent times and admitted: “It was a real tough moment in my career. It was probably the toughest moment in my career to date. To get myself into a position where all year I've worked hard to play at the end of the season and to play in these big games, cup finals and then to go to the Euros and try to win the tournament for my country.

"I felt like I got myself in a great position physically and mentally to go and perform at the highest level, and to face the setback I did with the injury, it was a real tough moment for me."

Maguire started his career at Sheffield United and rose up through the academy of his local team. He was a regular for them at various different youth levels and went on to play 166 games for the Blades.

Hull City snapped him up in 2014 and he made 75 outings for the Tigers, as well as having a loan spell away from East Yorkshire at Wigan Athletic. Leicester City swooped in for him in 2017 and he spent two impressive years with the Foxes before United got him.

Maguire was impressed with the way the Red Devils won the FA Cup last term and has said: "There was so much talk in the week leading up to the cup final. The media attention on the manager was really bad, but big credit to him and the way he handled it.

"It was really impressive and for the lads to pull off a great performance, the manager and his staff had a big part to play in that cup final victory as well.

"Going into the summer, no-one knew what was happening, but the decision has been made now. We've got new members of staff with Ruud and Rene . Everyone is looking forward to the season and hopefully we make it a successfully."
