Gent centre-back Jordan Torunarigha has “attracted interest” from West Ham United in recent weeks, according to Tutto Mercato Web.
The Italian outlet reported on 29 July that Crystal Palace have also had their interest piqued regarding the defender.
This likely comes after the Hammers’ quest for defensive reinforcement took a hit when their deal for Bayern Munich ace Noussair Mazraoui fell through .
Jordan Torunarigha is smart signing by West Ham United
It’s clear when you look at West Ham that they need defensive reinforcement as soon as possible.
The likes of Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd are no longer good enough to start week in and week out, and to make matters worse, the London-based club only have one natural right-back at their disposal thanks to the recent exit of Ben Johnson .
Whilst Vladimir Coufal was David Moyes’ first choice last term, he can’t be expected to start every game as it would be too much for him to take on.
Hence, why, over the last few days the Hammers have been consistently linked with defensive reinforcement.

Torunarigha is just 26 years old so he has plenty of miles left in the tank. The Nigeria international played in Belgium’s top flight last term and appeared a total of 44 times.
Although centre-back is his natural position, he can also be deployed at right-back if and when needed.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are readying an official offer for a Brazilian striker.
