Fabrizio Romano claims he knows the truth about an exciting new West Ham move for a top Man United target.

West Ham have confirmed to Hammers News they have “six irons in the fire” at the moment regarding transfers.

One of those is Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The Hammers are now edging closer to getting that deal done according to our top source inside the club.

But another target emerged over the weekend who has been on Manchester United’s radar for months.

The Red Devils will undoubtedly be growing sick of West Ham.

Because after going for top INEOS target Jean-Clair Todibo, the Irons then forced Man United to lower the fee for Wan-Bissaka by going after Noussair Mazraoui.

West Ham bid for Man United target

Now it’s been reported West Ham have jumped to the head of the queue to sign longstanding Manchester United midfield target Youssouf Fofana.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

The Hammers actually wanted to sign Monaco and France’s box-to-box central midfield ace when technical director Tim Steidten first arrived at the London Stadium.

But then Hammers boss David Moyes was not interested in Fofana and – with his power of veto – squashed the move.

Towards the end of last season Calciomercato claimed West Ham were hoping to try and sign Fofana this summer ahead of Manchester United and AC Milan.

The likes of L’Equipe claimed yesterday that West Ham had met Monaco’s £29.5million asking price while Man United were working on the Mazraoui and Wan-Bissaka situation.

Milan are said to have only offered half that amount – surely making West Ham favourites, even if it is claimed Fofana’s preference is to join the Italians.

But there has been a very significant update that will interest both West Ham and Man United fans.

Because Fabrizio Romano claims he knows the truth about an exciting new West Ham move for Man United target Fofana.

Romano truth about West Ham move for Fofana

If accurate, then it is pretty devastating news for the Hammers.

Although it is caveated with a potentially exciting update which tallies with information Hammers News has been told.

The update will be hugely encouraging for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United, though.

Romano states that West Ham’s move was actually made ‘days ago’.

And Fofana has already rejected the advances of the Hammers, making it clear he prefers Milan.

But, crucially, there is no agreement between the Serie A giants and Monaco, leaving the door open for Man United.

“Youssouf Fofana has agreed on personal terms with AC Milan weeks ago and he still wants the move,” Romano said.

“Fofana wants to play Champions League football; no agreement yet Milan/Monaco.

“West Ham bid was already rejected by the player days ago, West Ham are looking at other targets.”

Another French snub for Hammers

It seems the Hammers have been used here by Monaco to try and force Milan or Man United into making offering more money for Fofana.

The fact Fofana wants to play Champions League football would rule Manchester United out at the moment too.

If Fofana does go elsewhere then it will be a massive opportunity missed for the Hammers after Moyes turned down the move last summer.

He has all the attributes needed to be a success in the Premier League.

Fofana will be the third French player to have turned down West Ham this window after the club were snubbed by his compatriots Todibo and N’Golo Kante.
