Pep Guardiola has coached a plethora of players during his time in charge of Manchester City.

With eight years under his belt at the Etihad Stadium, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has turned many players the Manchester club have bought into multiple title winners.

Ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 season, the Citizens have once again been linked with moves for a wide range of players throughout the current summer transfer window.

Now, though, a pundit and former City manager has shared his thoughts on what Guardiola would be able to do with one specific player who has been on the club’s transfer radar this summer.

Stuart Pearce claims Dani Olmo would shine at Man City

In a recent video uploaded on the talkSPORT YouTube channel, Stuart Pearce was full of belief in Guardiola’s ability to make Dani Olmo a superstar if he joined City this summer.

He said: “He got his opportunities through injury in the summer, to be fair, but came on and was magnificent, I thought. He played a real integral part in Spain’s success.

“Pep has got a reputation of bringing players in that are good players and making them better players. So, it would be no surprise to me if he is a big success in the Premier League.”

Olmo could be a smart signing for City

In a recent post on his X account, journalist Florian Plettenberg said that while City have not made an offer for the RB Leipzig midfielder as of yet, they are monitoring his situation and are keeping in touch about it.

After scoring eight goals and delivering five assists in 25 appearances for Leipzig last season, predominantly playing on the left and right wings, the 26-year-old then went on to bag three goals and supply two assists in six games for Spain as an attacking-midfielder during the 2024 European Championship.

In fact, his performances in the recent international tournament led to him being heavily praised by Paul Merson, who dubbed Olmo an “amazing” footballer.

Having shown his versatility and ability to deliver goal contributions for club and country, it’s understandable why Pearce thinks Olmo would thrive under Guardiola at City.
