David Ozoh has now officially made his loan move away from Crystal Palace, with Derby County being the lucky recipient.
As Crystal Palace gear up to take on Crawley in a friendly on Saturday, one player who won’t be involved is David Ozoh, with the midfielder heading on loan.
The 19-year-old impressed in his appearances for the senior side last season, but in search of regular minutes, he has now joined Derby for the 2024/25 season.
It comes as no surprise that he’s headed on loan, with rumours circling in recent weeks that he was the target of multiple different clubs in the Championship.
Now, the midfield talent has spoken out after the move, talking about why he chose Derby and more.

David Ozoh explains why he made Derby move
Ozoh’s move to Derby was confirmed on Wednesday, and almost immediately he broke his silence over the move via Derby club media.
“It is a big club, with a big history as well and I just thought it was the best place to kick start my career.

“He’s a good gaffer , from the first time I spoke to him he made me feel welcome. I went straight and spoke to my family and just thought it was the best place to be.
“ I spoke to my agent straight away, I said ‘I think this is the club I wanna join’, made me feel really welcome.”
From the sounds of things, Ozoh is delighted with his decision, and therefore we imagine Palace are also. With a successful loan here, Ozoh could catapult himself into the thinking of Glasner for this time next year.
Ozoh reflects on disappointing season with Crystal Palace
Last season, Ozoh was very impressive for the Eagles when he was given the chance to perform, but these chances came less often than required for a player to develop.
This is why the loan move makes sense and why it’s pivotal that he is trusted into a starring role for Derby this coming year.
Speaking during his interview, Ozoh touched on the 2023/24 season he had and discussed his disappointment over not playing enough.
“Obviously last season playing a couple of games and was on the bench a little bit, it can get a bit frustrating. I’m really happy to be here.”
Hopefully, Ozoh will experience less disappointment on his loan, and he can return ready to contribute next summer after a year of senior football.
