Latest Manchester United transfer news and rumours as they prepare for the new Premier League season

Manchester United finished 8th in the Premier League table last season. They underperformed in the league but managed to win the FA Cup.

The Red Devils have since handed Erik ten Hag a new deal. Here is a look at some of the latest news and rumours coming out of the club...

Midfielder latest

Fulham are ‘expected’ to come in with another bid for United midfielder Scott McTominay, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmeth Sheth. The Cottagers want to snap up the Scotland international ahead of the new campaign.

The Red Devils have a big decision to make regarding his long-term future. A switch to Craven Cottage would boost his chances of getting some regular game time under his belt.

Right-back eyed

United ‘admire’ Feyenoord right-back Lutsharel Geertruida, as detailed in a report by FootballTransfers. The Eredivisie man has emerged as a potential option at right-back in this window.

There are question marks over Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s long-term future at Old Trafford with his contract up next year. If he was to head out the exit door, the Red Devils would need to find a replacement.

Geertruida, who is 24-years-old, could be seen as someone to bolster their defensive ranks. CaughtOffside claim he is also on the radar of Liverpool this summer and he has worked with their new manager Arne Slot in the past.

The Holland international has made 11 caps for his country and was part of their squad for the recent Euro 2024 tournament. However, they were beaten at the semi-finals stage in Germany by England, who eventually lost in the final to France in Berlin.

Geertruida started his career with spells as a youngster at Overmaas Rotterdam and Spartaan '20 before joining Feyenoord in 2012. He has since risen up through the academy ranks of his current club.

The Rotterdam-born man broke into their first-team in 2017 and hasn’t looked back since. He has made 198 appearances in all competitions to date, 47 of which came in the last campaign, and he has chipped in with 23 goals from the back.

The defender has helped Feyenoord win the league title once in 2022, as well as the KNVB Cup twice. They also reached the Europa Conference League final a couple of years ago but were beaten by Roma.

Geertruida’s future is now up in the air amid links to England. His contract runs out in June next year so it remains to be seen whether he will be sticking around beyond the deadline in a couple of months.

EFL chairman in Roy Keane admission

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has said he wouldn’t appoint former United player Roy Keane as their manager. The Posh are in League One under Sir Alex Ferguson’s son, Darren.

When asked about Keane on talkSPORT, MacAnthony said: “No, no, not for me. "I love listening to him on ITV, I love all of that, but no way. I know he did phenomenally at Sunderland, he won promotion with them, they went on the run and won the league and got to the Premier League.

"But I think we have to look at this - and it drives me mad sometimes - generations today have changed from footballers ten, 15, 20 years ago.
