Reece James is the sort of captain who gets the job because he’s the best player on the pitch, not because he’s necessarily a speech maker or a slick media operator – at least compared to some we’ve seen in the Premier League.

That makes situations like this a little more difficult. Last night in our first preseason press conference, he had to address the issue of Enzo Fernandez, whose signing of a racist song with his Argentina teammates has caused a massive dressing room rift. It’s not an easy topic to cover diplomatically, from James’ point of view.

We though he did well, but you can see for yourself.
