Pedro Lima now has the perfect opportunity to impress on Wolves’ US pre-season tour ahead of the start of 2024/25.

Gary O’Neil welcomed Pedro Lima to Wolves at the start of the month, signing the teenager from Sport Recife after hijacking Chelsea’s move. 

It’s understood that the 18-year-old will be integrated into the first team straight away, as the manager sees him as a worthy competitor to Matt Doherty and Nelson Semedo.

The youngster’s fast-tracking to the senior squad indicates all that needs to be known of his potential, with things having the ability to get even better for the Brazilian in the near future.

Deployed at right-back, Lima has already impressed during pre-season at Wolves, despite only having played a slim amount of his career at senior level.

The teenager is ready to trade the second tier of Brazilian football for the Premier League, with journalist Liam Keen admitting he is excited to see the “dynamic” summer arrival blossom.

Currently in the United States with the squad for their pre-season tour, the defender has the perfect opportunity to prove to the manager that he’s prepped for the Premier League.

In America, Wolves will play Premier League rivals West Ham and Crystal Palace, as well as RB Leipzig, giving Lima the ultimate chance to impress against high-calibre opponents.

The most prominent thing about the pre-season tour is what is waiting for Lima at home, as O’Neil will be without his first choice right-back Semedo for the opening three games of the league campaign. 

With this in mind, Lima should be even more motivated to impress in the States, with the goal to give O’Neil a decision to make between himself and Doherty on the opening day.

As mentioned, the Brazilian will be handed his first chance to play against Premier League opposition, with West Ham and Crystal Palace being transitioning sides with manager’s wanting to impress.

It will be a challenge for the teenager however, could be the start of something special for Lima, who has the perfect opportunity to announce himself in Old Gold in the States.

It’s trust enough that O’Neil wants him to be a part of the first team rather than the academy, with it possible that the boss could be impressed enough to start him on the opening day against Arsenal.
