Blackpool loanee Odel Offiah has said Steve Bruce has been ‘brilliant’ with him so far.

Blackpool swooped to land the defender on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion in the last transfer window.

Offiah, 21, was given the green light to leave the Seagulls to get some more experience under his belt.

He has said, as per the Tangerines’ official club website: “I’m really enjoying it. I’m happy to be involved especially as the team have won so many of them. First loss on Saturday, but hopefully we can bounce back after the international break.

“The tactics suit me and I’m learning a lot from him in training every day. He’s been brilliant with me personally.  This year under him will be really beneficial for me as he has played at the top level and managed at the very top as well so all the tips he gives me will be really helpful.”

He added: “We definitely welcomed the break as seven games in three weeks was a lot. It’s just time for us to have a bit of a break and come back stronger against Barnsley. Training is important all the time, but it will be even more important during this two weeks.  It will allow us to get more information on board and understand what the gaffer wants from us all.”

Blackpool loan man enjoying spell

Blackpool brought in Offiah to bolster their defensive department and to provide more competition and depth.

He has made a positive impression and although there has been a change of manager from Neil Critchley to Bruce during his time with the League One side, that hasn’t impacted him at all.

The Londoner started his career on the books at Bromley before Brighton snapped him up in 2017.

Offiah has since risen up through the ranks of the Premier League club and has been a regular for them at various different youth levels.

He made his debut for the Seagulls in August 2021 in a Carabao Cup clash against Cardiff City.

The prospect has since played nine more times and was also loaned out to Hearts in the Scottish Premiership in the last campaign to boost his development.

What next?

Offiah will want to continue getting game time with Blackpool.

Bruce has done well with the Seasiders so far and they will be looking forward to their return after the international break.
