Liverpool's impressive start to the Premier League season has been stifled by the October international break. The Reds beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon to make it six wins from seven league outings.

Aside from the 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest last month, it has been the dream start to life at Anfield for Arne Slot, who has watched his side win both of their Champions League games - against AC Milan and Bologna, no less - and advance to the last-16 of the Carabao Cup after of a 5-1 win over West Ham United.

But you already knew that, didn't you? Here, the ECHO looks at some of the latest headlines surrounding Liverpool during the international break.

Jurgen Klopp faces backlash after new role confirmed

Jurgen Klopp has faced considerable backlash in his native Germany after revealing he would start a position as the Global Head of Soccer at the Red Bull franchise in January.

The 57-year-old has been out of work since ending his illustrious eight-and-a-half-year stint as Reds manager in May. On Wednesday, however, it was revealed he would join the Red Bull stable to support its clubs across Germany, Austria, America and Brazil.

The announcement of Klopp's new role, though, has not gone down well with sections of supporters at his old club, Borussia Dortmund. They have condemned the German's decision to work with an organisation that has become the enemy of German football since forming RB Leipzig in 2009.

Shortly after Klopp's new role was made public, Bundesliga reporter Archie Rhind-Tutt took to social media to share some immediate reactions to the news.

He tweeted on X: "If you want an idea of how this is going down in Dortmund… a flavour of the comments from BVB fans to me this morning: Football is dead. He’s absolutely dead to me. That makes me sick."

Martin Zubimendi makes transfer admission

Martin Zubimendi has doubled down on his decision to snub a move to Liverpool and remain with Real Sociedad - as he continues to be linked with a move to Manchester City.

The Euro 2024 winner was close to becoming Arne Slot's first signing in August as Liverpool looked to activate the release clause in his Sociedad contract, although Zubimendi decided to snub a move to Anfield and stay put in La Liga.

However, the 25-year-old has now been linked with a move to Manchester City in the January transfer window after Rodri suffered a season-ending injury last month.

But on Wednesday, Zubimendi appeared to double down on his decision to stay in Spain when he was asked about a potential mid-season switch to the Premier League.

“There are always rumours but until now I've always thought that the best solution for me is staying at Real Sociedad," he said. "I've still a lot of things to give to this club, I still want to grow and develop here”.
