There are now only 83 days to go until the January transfer window opens. And that means two things for Liverpool: the clock is ticking down on the three big contracts that need resolving, and there isn't that long to go until another chance to buy players arrives.

Arne Slot has started really well at Anfield but adding more quality to his roster should still be on the agenda. Liverpool arguably looks a little light of numbers in the center of the field still and after missing out on Martin Zubimendi in the summer, there could be an opportunity to source an alternative.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. There is a claim about a new striker potentially coming in and an unlikely suggestion of a Real Madrid swap.

Omar Marmoush (Eintracht Frankfurt)

Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush has emerged as a Liverpool transfer target ahead of next summer, according to Caught Offside. And Mohamed Salah's international teammate could supposedly be available for a cut-price fee of just $33m (£26m/€30m).

Marmoush has scored nine goals in nine games at the start of the season including netting a brace against Bayern Munich. He has also assisted six goals for his teammates during a real purple patch.

Unless another forward leaves, though, bringing in a seventh senior attacker would seem a little excessive. Salah is out of contract at the end of the campaign as it stands but replicating his level of output would be an enormous ask.

Liverpool.com says: The only Egyptian we want to see signing for Liverpool is Salah! Keeping him would be far more important in terms of maintaining the current level of goalscoring numbers.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 'swap deal'

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid would like to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold in January after Dani Carvajal picked up an ACL injury. Los Blancos have been tipped to make a move for the Liverpool number 66 on a free transfer with his contract set to expire in 2025.

However, the report claims that Liverpool would ask for either Rodrygo or Aurelien Tchouameni in part exchange for Alexander-Arnold should he be allowed to leave in the winter. That would be a surprising move...

Liverpool.com says: Signing Alexander-Arnold up to a new contract has to be a priority for Liverpool. Getting someone in part exchange not only feels unrealistic but wouldn't solve the problem of losing a generational right-back and a local hero. He simply needs to stay.
