A look at what the opposition bosses have said after games against Tottenham so far this season.

Ange Postecoglou will want better from his men after the break as they look to compete for a top four spot this season. In the meantime, we have rounded up what opposition managers have said about Tottenham so far this season.

Leicester City 1-1 Tottenham

Steve Cooper: "First half, there could have been frustration. Maybe it was felt but it certainly wasn't heard or shown. Any opponent will find it difficult to play in an atmosphere like that, the way we played in the second half. We've got to understand and recreate that as much as we can."

Tottenham 4-0 Everton

Sean Dyche: "Two back-to-back tough games. We had two mistakes last week, one mistake this week. Tottenham are a team of goalscorers, all over the pitch. We didn't have enough. We are stretched but that is no excuse. I expect a lot from these players, but there are a lot of challenges here.

"We are working within the guidelines that we can. We expect more. We have been written off many times before and we will be written off again. We have come through it before."

Newcastle United 2-1 Tottenham

Eddie Howe: "It's massive, isn't it? You need to win at any stage but I think when there's difficult moments - and this transfer window has been tough for us - then it's even more important. It just enables you to see things clearly and to move forward with positive momentum.

"Hopefully we can do that. Today was a tough game, but, as I said, we found a way to grind out a win and hopefully those are good signs for the rest of the season. I don't think we're playing as we would like, I think that's obvious. I don't think we're playing with enough control and composure. But what we are showing is the defensive and aggressive qualities that you need. I have to say we're defending very well but on the ball, I think we've got a lot of work to do. Our attacking play has not kicked into rhythm yet."

Tottenham 0-1 Arsenal

Mikel Arteta: “Well, I'm super happy, obviously. We know what it means to our club, to our people to win a London derby, and we have the power to try to make them very happy. So hopefully we have achieved that and that makes it very special. On the performance we had moments in the game, some really good ones, some others that we have to suffer. We suffered because we have to adapt a little bit the plan because of the players that we had available.

He added: “I didn't enjoy it because I didn't sleep much. I looked at Spurs for four or five days. I had a super clear plan, how to do it. I prepared everything, the session, the meeting, etc, and then one news, we lose a player. Another news, we lose another player. Another news, we lose a player. So I had to completely change it. I liked the plan for the players that we had available, so it was a great challenge.”

Tottenham 3-1 Brentford

Thomas Frank: “Apart from a 10-minute blackout at the start of the second half, we performed very well against a good Tottenham side,” Frank began. The first half was in many ways very good: we were dangerous going forward on counter attacks, aggressive in the high pressure and defended well in a low block. We ticked all the boxes I wanted on that, but probably could have played one of the two transition chances bigger to produce another goal.”

He added: “Of course, two of the goals are a bit unlucky in terms of ricochets – the first and the third. But the second one can’t happen; you can’t concede at the kick-off again. But after that we grew into the game again, scored a 2-3 goal and had chances and opportunities. Tottenham changed to a back five, which was the right decision, but I haven’t seen them to that this season. That’s the respect they showed us, which is fine, but it didn’t give us any points.”

Man Utd 0-3 Tottenham

Erik ten Hag: “To concede a goal after two or three minutes like that, it did something to our belief. Totally unnecessary. To concede a goal like this, the centre-half stepping in and passing the whole team over the right side and then the winger tapping in at the far post. Same mistake as in the midweek against Twente, it should be stopped in the first moment. From that moment on we were stressed on the ball. We could not find the triangles or the switches, we had some good moments, but from that moment we could not get a foothold. And we can do better than that. Even after such a mistake from us we should stay calm.”

He added: “We had chances and our moments to get back in the game, with Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho when we still had 11 players and then after the red card too we had moments. We had our chances before half-time and in the second half with 10 men we had chances as well. It definitely had an impact on the game. I don’t think it was a red card.”

Brighton 3-2 Tottenham

Fabian Hurzeler: "The first half it was not a tactical thing that we conceded the two goals. It was playing with intense, fulfilling the match-plan with energy - that was the main topic. That is what I had to get back at half-time. It is the job from the players they played an amazing second half and did enough to win. In the process it is normal to have bad performances as the process is not linear, it's up-and-down - you have to accept these downs.

"You have to focus on your own quality and that is what I said to the team - focus on the process. That is how you react from bad performances."
