One West Ham United player in particular has received huge praise from ex-Hammer Pablo Fornals.

Pablo Fornals left West Ham to join Real Betis in the January transfer window for around £6.8 million.

Personally, I feel like the Hammers made a big mistake by selling Fornals when we did.

I think the 28-year-old would have thrived under Lopetegui, what with the possession-based system that the Spaniard wants to implement.

Pablo Fornals struggled during his final year or so at West Ham, mainly because he didn’t fit into Moyes’s system whereby players weren’t allowed to express themselves in possession.

However, the former Villarreal man quite clearly still loves the Hammers, despite the way that he was jettisoned from the starting XI during his final year at the London Stadium.

Fornals still keeps an eye out for our results, and watches our matches whenever he can.

And Pablo is particularly fond of one of our players it seems…

Pablo Fornals thinks West Ham have an incredible player

The Spaniard sat down to speak with Roshane Thomas for a wide-ranging interview.

He discussed all things West Ham, and chose to praise one Hammer in particular.

When speaking to The Athletic, Fornals absolutely raved about Jarrod Bowen, suggesting that the 27-year-old has now reached another level.

The Spaniard said, Playing on the right wing would have been impossible at West Ham because of how talented Jarrod Bowen is. He’s taken his game to another level and I’m so happy for him.

Fornals is spot on here – Jarrod seems to have reached a whole new level entirely over the past year or so.

Last term, he bagged 20 goals and 10 assists in just 44 games in all competitions for the Hammers.

He was included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024, but was unfortunate not to be given more minutes.

Whilst he hasn’t be at his best this season, he showed signs that he’s nearly there with a fabulous display against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Pablo Fornals praising Jarrod Bowen may well give the West Ham attacker a big confidence boost that he needs right now, after he was omitted from Lee Carsley’s England squad.

I fully expect Bowen to return to action fully firing on all cylinders when Premier League football resumes after the international break.
