Recently, Pep Guardiola addressed how close Ederson Moraes was to leaving Manchester City in the summer.
Guardiola stressed that the offer to sign Ederson was far below expected for them to sell such an established goalkeeper like him.
Ederson promised to stay for “years” at City after the FA Community Shield — revealing that he spoke to Pep Guardiola, his teammates as well as his loved ones before arriving at his decision.
The £35 million man seemed the closest to leaving Manchester City he has ever looked during his time at the club.
The 30-year-old is yet to extend his contract beyond 2026 despite staying at the Etihad Stadium.
However, Ederson ultimately took the best decision from a career standpoint to stay at a club where he continues to be hugely valued and is expected to win trophies.

But knowing that the Brazilian considered an exit from City in the summer of 2023, it would be no surprise if clubs queue up to discover whether they can tempt him into a move.
With Pep Guardiola’s contract set to expire in the summer, his decision could also potentially impact Ederson’s future.
For the time being, the six-time Premier League winner will be hoping to have another tremendous campaign in a Manchester City shirt and pick up silverware along the way.
The former Benfica number one has enjoyed a hugely fruitful spell at City.
Ahead of Brazil’s upcoming clash against Chile, Ederson was told about Paris Saint-Germain being interested in signing him.
The Manchester City number one reacted to the claim via ESPN Brasil: “This one is new! I didn’t know!”
Leaving Man City to sign for PSG would be a downgrade for Ederson
If Ederson were to leave Manchester City to sign for PSG, the move would be a massive downgrade.
Luis Enrique’s side have been further weakened by the departure of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid.
The French giants’ recent 2-0 defeat to Arsenal was proof of why their hopes of finally winning the Champions League look more unlikely than they have in several years.
Manchester City, on the other hand give Ederson far more of a chance to reign supreme in Europe while the Premier League is a far more prestigious division to compete in than Ligue 1.
As a result, it seems unlikely that leaving City in favour of a move to Paris would entice a serial winner like him.
Based on Ederson’s reply on international duty, he does not even seem to be aware of any talk surrounding him and a transfer to PSG.
