Chelsea youngster Marc Guiu hasn’t played a lot of football in the opening months of the season, but he’s got a chance during this October international break to get some competitive minutes.
Chelsea’s summer transfers included the addition of Marc Guiu from Barcelona. The 18-year-old striker joined the Blues from Barcelona in a deal worth £5m (BBC).
So far, Guiu has played five first-team club games across all competitions this season, with his only starts coming in the Conference League qualifiers back in August. It’s quickly worked out that he’s the third-choice option in the Chelsea squad for the centre-forward position behind both Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku.
Guiu has been included in Spain’s Under-19s side during this international period, with games against Germany and Norway.
The teenage frontman was actually named in Spain’s starting line-up on Wednesday afternoon for the friendly match versus Germany.

Marc Guiu scores fantastic goal
Spain’s U19s were beaten 2-1 against Germany’s U19s on Wednesday afternoon at a neutral venue.
Chelsea supporters will be intrigued to hear that Guiu scored a brilliant goal in the 4th minute before his side went on to lose the contest. He found space well in the penalty box to power in a thunderous header at the near post.
He completed the full 90 minutes as well to get some much-needed game time into his legs.

Let’s hope that the Blues teenager gets more action when Spain’s U19s face Norway on Saturday afternoon in a 1pm kick-off.
Should Chelsea loan him?
We’d expect Guiu to pick up first-team minutes here and there this season for Chelsea, largely in the various cup competitions. However, it’s hard to imagine the Spanish youngster playing too much senior football.
While it’s fantastic that he’s adapting to life in England and is around Enzo Maresca’s squad, he’s behind two fantastic attackers in the pecking order.
We would suggest that the Blues considers sending Guiu on a short-term loan in the second half of the season to play more regularly in English football, whether that’s at a Premier League or Championship club.
