Chelsea’s return to action after the upcoming international break is certainly going to test their metal as a genuine contender this season.

The Blues will make the trip to Anfield to face league leaders Liverpool, with Enzo Maresca putting his 100% Premier League record away from home on the line.

Chelsea are unbeaten in the league since the opening day, and many of their brilliant moments so far have come as a result of Cole Palmer.

The England international has just been named his country’s player of the year, and is picking up exactly where he left off for his club.

He sits top of the tree for combined goals and assists this season, although Gary Neville believes he is not going to get everything his own way against Liverpool.

Neville thinks Palmer could struggle vs Liverpool

He told NBC Sports that he thinks the opponents will be very aggressive towards the 22-year-old next Sunday.

He said: “Anfield is the toughest place to get space. You think about how Cole Palmer plays, and the way he always looks like he’s got time on the ball, it’ll be interesting to see how he does at Anfield. They will be really aggressive against him and test him.”

Maresca will be praying that Palmer avoids any sort of injury in the next two weeks or so that would stop him featuring against Arne Slot’s side.

Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana suspended

He has already been forced to get creative after seeing two of his key players suspended from the game due to picking up five yellow cards already.

Both Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella are out, with them both picking up warnings from Robert Sanchez in the process too.

This is likely going to provide the chance for the biggest game in their early Chelsea career’s for Renato Veiga and Tosin Adarabioyo to fill the void left by them, and show they should already be in the picture for more minutes going forwards.
