West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen

Sam Matterface believes Jarrod Bowen will be “disappointed” to miss out on the England squad after his performance for West Ham United in the 4-1 win against Ipswich Town.
The 27-year-old scored the third goal for the Hammers at the London Stadium on Saturday – his second goal in seven Premier League outings this season.
Bowen missed out on Lee Carsley’s England squad announced last week for the upcoming international break and Matterface, when discussing his performance on the Premier League All Access podcast , shared his opinion that the forward will need to be at his best to force his way into the national side.
He said: “Jarrod Bowen did well in that game I thought. He will be disappointed not to be in the England squad.
“But it is such a competitive place to be now. You’re going to have to be at your very, very best to get in there.”
Jarrod Bowen needs to lead the way for West Ham United
The Hammers forward doubled his goal and assists tally for the season at the weekend, taking his goal contributions to four in seven Premier League outings.
Considering the squad are struggling to adjust to Lopetegui’s style of play in East London, his ability to be a difference-maker for his teammates in difficult circumstances outlines his value to this West Ham side.
While the supporters have rightfully aired their frustrations with the results thus far, the squad is in a period of transition, and despite the £150m outlay spent on additions this summer, expecting an immediate challenge for European football is too high an ask.

Bowen would do well to match or potentially exceed his 16 goals and six assists in the Premier League last term, and while he has proved capable of leading the line for West Ham in the absence of Niclas Fullkrug, and rightfully received his plaudits, a return to the flanks should see a return of the forward the Hammers fans know and love.
On paper, the attacking talent available to Lopetegui is among one of the best the Premier League has to offer. There is no way the attacking trio of Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus all declined overnight.
It is up to the West Ham boss to figure out a way for his frontline to consistently get back amongst the goals, and the win over Ipswich was certainly a good starting point.
