It's only been a couple days, but U.S. men's national team players are already noticing a difference under Mauricio Pochettino.

USMNT left back Antonee Robinson said on Tuesday that training has been "more intense" under the new head coach than it typically was under Gregg Berhalter — at least in the early part of camp.

Pochettino was named USMNT head coach last month, taking over from Berhalter after the team's group-stage exit at Copa América over the summer.

The Argentine has convened his first roster for the team's October friendlies, with matches against Panama in Austin, Texas on Saturday and against Mexico in Guadalajara next Tuesday.

The USMNT held its first training session with all of its players present on Tuesday after the group flew in from around the U.S. and Europe.

For Fulham left back Robinson, the difference was clear right away.

"Straight away, it seems a little bit more intense," Robinson said on a call with reporters.

"Usually lads getting in on Sunday and training on the Monday, if you've played on Saturday, it's kind of light — you don't do a lot, you recover on the bike. Yesterday we were straight into training, and it was a tough session. So we were kind of , 'Right, we are here to work.' So it was definitely intense from the front foot."

While the USMNT works hard on the training pitch, defender Tim Ream said Pochettino is meeting with players on an individual basis to try and get to know them on a personal level.

"There were a lot of individual conversations, understanding us as people, and they've continued throughout," Ream said. "I had mine right when I showed up on Sunday.

"As meals and as hours have ticked by, you see certain guys getting pulled to have sit-down chats, and I think it's great. They want to get to know us, and obviously we want to get to know them. And the message is that wants to win. He has his principles, he has his ideas. But at the end of the day, it's about winning."
