Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has praised reported Liverpool transfer target Omar Marmoush after spotting a "not normal" moment. The Reds have been credited with an interest in the Eintracht Frankfurt forward in recent weeks, with the report ramping up over the last few days.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed that Liverpool have an interest in signing Marmoush, with head coach Arne Slot said to be a fan of the Egypt international. As a result, the Reds are reported to have placed the 25-year-old on a transfer shortlist with the January window moving ever closer. Reports in recent weeks have speculated that Frankfurt value Marmoush at around £25 million. The forward signed as a free agent for the Bundesliga club in 2023 and has scored nine goals so far this season.

Two of those goals came in the 3-3 draw with Bayern Munich at the weekend in the Bundesliga. Marmoush also provided the assist for Hugo Ekitike, with the moment leaving Kompany stunned after the game.

Kompany is in his first season as Bayern Munich manager, and the former Manchester City captain praised Marmoush and tipped the forward for a bright future amid links to Liverpool.

“Marmoush is a player who’s only going to get better with time,” Kompany told reporters on Sunday after Bayern Munich's draw with Frankfurt.

“What he did for Ekitike’s goal is not normal. To push past Upa with strength, no one did that before for the whole season.

"And then to make the right decision at the end, the quality in his strike, and the speed. Sometimes he looks quite relaxed, then when he gets going, he’s really fast.”
