Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag remains under huge pressure and is set to learn his fate as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co weigh up his future.

Ineos chose to keep Erik ten Hag in the Manchester United dugout over the summer despite major speculation surrounding his future.

Ten Hag won the FA Cup final against Manchester City and whilst Ineos appeared to speak to other managers, the Dutchman kept his job.

Some weren’t convinced that Ten Hag would be the long-term manager for Ineos though and the first sign of pressure this season has sparked major speculation.

United have won just two of seven Premier League games this season and failed to win the first two Europa League games.

Reports suggest that Ten Hag’s future will be decided at a meeting on Tuesday as Ineos weigh up whether to make a change in this international break.

Sir Jim Ratcilffe wants Champions League winner

We would be surprised to see Ten Hag receive the axe in this meeting but the pressure is certainly on.

Reports have already linked Gareth Southgate with the job and Brentford’s Thomas Frank has been named as a target.

MORE UNITED STORIES

The Daily Mail now claim that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has a particular admiration for Thomas Tuchel.

Ratcliffe and Tuchel met to discuss the United job over the summer after the German left Bayern Munich.

Ratcliffe seems to still be interested in Tuchel after going as far as discussing financial terms with him over the summer.

The problem is that Ratcliffe’s admiration for Tuchel is not exactly mirrored throughout United.

It’s stated that key members of United’s executive team have ‘reservation’s about moving for Tuchel.

Ratcliffe may well want to move for Tuchel but appointing him may be somewhat unpopular with some around him at Old Trafford.

Tuchel won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 but was sacked in 2022 and recently endured a difficult spell at Bayern Munich.

Thomas Tuchel move may disappoint two United players

It seems clear that Tuchel isn’t exactly the unanimous choice inside United.

Ratcliffe risks frustrating some key decision makers at Old Trafford but also a couple of recent Ten Hag signings.

United raided Bayern Munich by signing both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui over the summer.

Ten Hag wanted both players having worked with them during his time as Ajax boss.

Tuchel hasn’t quite shared that admiration though having barely used the duo at Bayern.

Both De Ligt and Mazraoui were bit-part players under Tuchel and struggled for Bundesliga start last season.

Just months after leaving Bayern to reunite with Ten Hag, De Ligt and Mazraoui may end up being coached by Tuchel again – a concern for the duo after a difficult seasons last term.
