According to RMC, as reported by French outlet Foot Mercato, Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais have received a fresh bid for their teenage sensation Désiré Doué from Bayern Munich.

Doué, having turned 19 not too long ago and yet a mainstay in the Rennes starting XI, has also been attracting interest from PSG and Spurs.

Bayern’s first offer of €35 ​​million for the attacking midfielder was outright rejected by Rennes, but the Bavarians have returned with a new bid in the region of €55 million, bonuses included.

Capable of playing both centrally and out wide, the ‘sensational’ Doué will feature at the Paris Olympics representing the Thierry Henry-led France side. He currently has a €10k-per-week contract at Rennes that is set to run until June 2026.

Bayern’s travails in the transfer market of late, both for players and coaches, have been intriguing, to say the least, as they go about making unconventional calls in their pursuit to return to the top.

One thing is for certain here, though: with their latest offer for Doué they may very well have priced Spurs out of the competition.

The North London club may be making big moves for youngsters recently, but they are still looked after by Daniel Levy, and he is nothing if not a shrewd operator and can be expected to not pay well over half of what he received for Harry Kane last summer.
