Arne Slot has enjoyed an impressive start to life since taking over at Liverpool, however there is one small change he has made to the team's matchday preparations

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has revealed that he has implemented a change at the club that means players no longer stay at a hotel the night before a home game. The Dutchman has enjoyed a sterling start to life at Anfield, racking up nine wins out of 10 in all competitions so far.

Liverpool currently sit top of the Premier League with six wins out seven and have six points in the new-look Champions League group stage after victories over Italian pair AC Milan and Bologna.

While Slot has claimed he has not had to make too many alterations since joining the club in the summer, he has revealed he has put a stop to players having to stay away from home the night before a home game. He believes both players and staff benefit more from a night in their own beds and in familiar surroundings.

Under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool were known to frequent the Titanic Hotel, which lies just outside the city centre, ahead of their home games, as well as for parties and get-togethers. The four-star hotel has a first-class reputation in Merseyside and was reportedly the location where pop mega-star Taylor Swift also resided when she performed at Anfield this summer.

The Reds had also used the Hope Street Hotel in the past as a base prior to matches taking place at Anfield. However, that's one aspect of Klopp's Liverpool that no longer stands at the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Slot opened up on the hotel switch after being asked had he made any changes since arriving at Liverpool and whether he had implemented any new rules. However, he admitted that he had very little to do thanks to the immaculate culture Klopp had administered during his time on Merseyside.

"There was a real good culture of players being on time so I hate it if we talk about fines and all these kinds of things with players being late, it's normal you are on time, but that culture was already here," he said.

"Maybe, the only one (rule he has changed) and I don't know if it's a rule, but they're (players and staff) used to going into hotels a lot the day before the game and that's what we've changed, because I felt like my staff feel the best place to sleep is your own bed, so it gives you the best rest possible, so that's not a rule but it's maybe one of the few things we've changed.

"So before a home game a player is in their own house and their own bed instead of being in a hotel, that's not a rule but that did change."

As for his own preparations before a game, Slot, who has gained a reputation amongst the Reds faithful as a calm and composed figure in the dugout, has opened up on the meticulous work he puts in prior to a game.

The 48-year-old has revealed that he begins every matchday by hosting a team meeting, where he combs over the day's gameplan, which follows his studying of matches featuring their opposition.

"It's a lot about watching games of the other team and preparing my meeting," he told Sky Sports. "On a game day, I always have my game-plan meeting, which we have tried to implement in the days before in training sessions as well, but then show them even more what they can expect and what we want from them.

"So, my main focus is on my meeting on a game day and to finish that off in the best possible way to prepare the team in the best possible way. Afterwards I'm quite relaxed because I think I did what I had to do until the moment the game starts, and then you have to be ready to adjust if needed."

Despite their stunning start to life under their new head coach, the Reds now face a daunting run of fixtures after the international break, starting with Chelsea at Anfield.

The tough looking run, which also features games against Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle, as well as a mouthwatering home clash with Real Madrid in the Champions League, is being viewed by many as Slot's first major testing spell since arriving at the club.
