Manchester City have sent a letter to the other 19 Premier League clubs including Everton through their general counsel, Simon Cliff, according to The Times.

The newspaper reported via its website that the Toffees were sent a dismantling of the statement signed by Richard Masters, over the legal dispute on commercial deals.

It is understood Cliff described the summary of the panel’s award as “not correct”, warning of further legal disputes if clubs bow to the pressure to make changes to the rules on Associated Party Transactions (APT).

An emergency meeting is set to be held between the 20 clubs next week, with it taking place “against the backdrop” of City’s war with the Premier League.

Manchester City send letter to Everton amid Premier League battle

City look to be fighting fire with fire when it comes to the Premier League’s rulings, especially when it comes to signing inflated commercial deals with closely related companies.

While the general counsel will feel he is just doing his job to protect the current Premier League champions, other clubs are now being caught in the crossfire of their fight.

It is understood, as per Mike Keegan, that the Toffees could be at risk of another points deduction due to their £400million-plus in shareholder loans, but rulings would need to change for that.

The whole situation is just becoming more confusing for the average football fan, with many far less interested in the financial side, though many do not understand why City have not been found guilty yet.

With no real end in sight to all of this drama, it is impossible to predict what could happen next, with the Premier League champions biting back hard.
