Newcastle United have made signing a striker a priority for the upcoming transfer windows, sources have told Football Insider.
Eddie Howe’s team have relied upon Anthony Gordon in the past two Premier League games due to being without a proven centre-forward.
Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson have both been unavailable recently due to injuries which has made this a priority area for the north east giants.
Newcastle did sign William Osula during the summer transfer window to bolster the ranks, but he was brought in to learn from Wilson and Isak before becoming a mainstay in the team.
Gordon has stepped up and played out of position for the Magpies and showcased his attacking qualities against Man City and Everton.
However, sources have told Football Insider that Howe wants to bring in a regular striker in January or next summer.

Newcastle United want a striker to provide competition
Isak has established himself as Newcastle’s main striker since joining the club in 2022, and he already has one Premier League goal to his name this season.
However, the Sweden international is currently out with a broken toe and he also missed six games last season due to a groin problem.
Considering Wilson’s injury troubles in recent seasons, Howe wants to bring in a striker to provide more competition and cover in this area.

The Magpies have only scored eight goals in the opening seven Premier League fixtures, which is the second lowest in the top half of the table.
Newcastle were unable to find the back of the net against Everton last weekend, which led to them battling out a goalless draw against the Merseyside club.
