West Ham and David Moyes were jokingly namechecked after Jeff Stelling was questioned on the financial battle between Manchester City and the Premier League.
City have partially won a legal battle against the Premier League’s commercial rules governing clubs including two large sponsorship deals they were blocked from completing .
While the Hammers are not involved at all in the situation, a fan has been thrown into the conversation after sending a joke into the radio show.
Reading out a message from a fan live via talkSPORT on Tuesday (8 October, 6:25am), Stelling said: “Is it West Ham’s fault for not keeping David Moyes?
In response, he said: Maybe, maybe…”
West Ham United dragged into Premier League battle with Manchester City
While the Hammers dragged themselves into the situation, providing evidence against the current champions , it is clearly a joke from Stelling.
The best thing fans can do right now is laugh about the situation as City continue to battle against the allegations being thrown at them, though this does not include any of the 115 charges yet.
However, it could spell bad news for any clubs with large sums in shareholder loans, meaning those such as Everton could be at risk of points deductions due to breaches of Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Football looks to be becoming less and less about the average fan, with more focus on the financial side emerging daily across the division.

The Hammers have rarely been involved on the wrong side of the Premier League, with City and the Toffees stealing the spotlight in recent seasons, but nobody can say for certain that this will remain as the rules could change very soon.
With jokes about Graeme Souness blaming Paul Pogba and the cast of Scooby Doo also being blamed, it is clearly a joke and not one to be offended of as Stelling makes light of the overcomplicated situation.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers’ transfer fate is now completely sealed as a contract update emerged recently.
