Liverpool’s players have made their way out on international duty, but the Reds can’t avoid the transfer rumors following some of those stars.

Arne Slot will be hoping all of his players return in one piece for what is set to be a serious examination of his side’s title credentials later this month. But while there is plenty of pressure on the pitch, there is perhaps even more off it for FSG at the moment.

The clock is ticking for Liverpool to get Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah tied down to new contracts, and while negotiations are underway with the players’ representatives, there’s still no sign of progress. Jarell Quansah’s new deal is hopefully a sign of things to come, but speculation continues over the trio’s futures.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today, including news of a potential new plan from Real Madrid to sign Alexander-Arnold.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

Real Madrid could bring its plans to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold forward, according to Spanish outlet Sport.

Los Blancos had planned to sign the 25-year-old on a free transfer next summer, with Alexander-Arnold able to negotiate a pre-contract agreeement with a foreign club in January as his contract reaches its final few months.

But with Dani Carvajal sustaining a serious knee injury which looks set to keep him out for the remainder of the season, Real could now bring its plans forward and try to sign Alexander-Arnold in January.

Liverpool.com says: It would be a surprise if Alexander-Arnold leaves in January. For one thing, Real Madrid doesn't generally do much business in January, and if they know they can get the right-back for free just a few months later, they'll likely take the hit of not having their first-choice in the position for the rest of the season.

Regardless, Liverpool needs to get a move on. It should never have let Alexander-Arnold get to this point, and with just under three months until he can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club, the Reds need to make him an offer he can't refuse.

Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace)

Liverpool is interested in Eberechi Eze, according to Football Insider, and it’s claimed Crystal Palace could be tempted into selling the England international at a cut price.

The Reds are said to have joined Newcastle and Tottenham in the race for the 26-year-old, whose $89m (£68m/€81m) release clause will come into effect next summer. It’s also suggested though that offers between $65m (£50m/€60m) and $79m (£60m/€72m) could tempt Palace into selling, although they are reluctant to entertain any offers in January.

Liverpool.com says: Eze is certainly a big player for Palace, but he doesn’t really feel like a player that would improve Liverpool. Perhaps he could provide competition in the No.10 role, but hopefully Dominik Szoboszlai will be able to add more goals to his game and make the position his own.
