Manchester United are again considering Thomas Tuchel as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag, and such a change could lead to several signings during the coming transfer windows.
The former Chelsea head coach held talks with United co-chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe about taking over. Ten Hag eventually received a contract extension, though, plus the backing of chief executive Omar Berrada and sporting director Dan Ashworth.
Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui were reunited with their former coach at Ajax during the summer transfer window, with Joshua Zirkzee, another of his countrymen, also arriving. They joined a raft of players coming to Old Trafford who previously worked with Ten Hag, and Tuchel could expect something similar.

An immediate addition the former Bayern Munich coach could make would be Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting, who remains a free agent after leaving the Bundesliga club at the end of his contract this summer. Tuchel brought the centre-forward to Bavaria from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and previously had Choupo-Moting at Mainz.
United were said to be signing the Cameroon international on loan during the last January transfer window, with the player reputedly open to a move at the time, but no deal materialised. While he has left, Raphael Guerreiro remains at Bayern and has under two years remaining on his contract after joining the Bavarian club in the same window as his former teammate.
The Portugal international also joined from PSG, and despite his time there not overlapping with Tuchel, they spent the 2016/17 season together at Borussia Dortmund. Manchester City were credited with an interest in Guerreiro before he departed Dortmund, while Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot are long-time international teammates of his.
Meanwhile, reports linking Christian Pulisic to United persist after his impressive start to this season at AC Milan. Tuchel coached Pulisic at Chelsea and Dortmund.
