Will Trent Alexander-Arnold sign a new Liverpool contract? That is a question that has been debated for a number of months with his current deal set to expire next summer.

The 26-year-old has been one of Liverpool's standout performers since breaking into the first-team during the 2016/17 season and hasn't looked back, helping the Reds win several major honours. Across the last seven years, he has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup among other trophies. The England international has made 319 appearances for the Reds, scoring 19 goals and adding 83 assists.

Alexander-Arnold has less than nine months left on his current contract. There are worries among the Liverpool fanbase that the boyhood Red could leave the club at the end of the season, with Real Madrid interested in signing him. He signed his most recent Liverpool contract in the summer of 2021.

There will be many Liverpool fans that will be devastated if Alexander-Arnold leaves the club. Alongside Curtis Jones, he is part of a small group of Merseyside-born players that have come through the academy and are still in the first-team at Anfield. As well as that, Alexander-Arnold is one of Liverpool's best-ever homegrown players with Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Ian Callaghan and Ronnie Moran also up there.

Although he hasn't made anywhere near as many appearances for the Reds as the first three aforementioned players, would Alexander-Arnold be classed as a Liverpool legend even if he does depart next summer? Considering the trophies he has won and his sheer talent, there could be a serious argument.

There has been calls for Liverpool to potentially SELL Alexander-Arnold in January if he hasn't signed a new contract by then. This is so the Reds can get a substantial fee for arguably the best right-back in world football, although he is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with a non-English club for the summer.

Alexander-Arnold isn't the only Liverpool player out of contract next summer, with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk both seeing their deals expire at the end of the campaign. Some fans are concerned that the club are allowing three of its best players run down their contracts into the final nine months.

Meanwhile, Jarell Quansah has signed a new long-term contract with the Reds and talks are progressing over agreeing a deal for Ibrahima Konate, who has impressed under Arne Slot so far this season.
