Crystal Palace were left disappointed by their defeat to Liverpool as they head into the international break still without a win in the Premier League this season.
Oliver Glasner’s side had an early goal ruled out for offside that would’ve had the Selhurst Park crowd rocking in the right direction.
Just moments after that, Liverpool took the lead as Diogo Jota’s ghosting run allowed him to evade the Palace defence for a simple finish.
While the Reds were heavy favourites heading into the tie, they were far from comfortable as the Eagles went searching for a route back into the game.
Several big chances were put down and in the end, they were unable to grab a valuable point or more from the game.
The Crystal Palace faithful will have felt frustrated by that in the end, as well as a refereeing decision that seemingly went against them.

Marc Guehi and Virgil van Dijk penalty incident verdict
One incident that left Crystal Palace fans angered came from an attack late in the game that could’ve drawn the side level.
Marc Guehi appeared to have a chance at heading a cross into the box but was pulled back by Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

With other incidents being punished in the Premier League over the weekend for incidents off the ball and in the box, the lack of VAR intervention confused many.
A statement from the Premier League Match Centre social media account reads: “The referee’s call of no penalty for the challenge by van Dijk on Guéhi is checked and confirmed by VAR – deeming that the challenge was not sustained holding and had no impact on the play.”

It was a decision that frustrated football pundit Richard Keys, who blasted the refereeing in his blog when reviewing the weekend of action.
“Palace should’ve had one v Liverpool when Van Dijk pulled Guehi back. No foul said the PGMOL’s Matchday centre, claiming van Dijk let go quickly.
“Really? How come Eriksson was booked for an exact same offence in the opening five minutes at Villa then?”
Crystal Palace must put the refereeing incident aside
While there is clear frustration around the lack of luck Crystal Palace may have had at a time when they need it most, there is an element where other reflection is needed.
Over a spell where results have been hard to come by, Glasner’s task will be picking apart the moments that mattered that Liverpool game.
Take away the penalty incident and there were still enough chances for Crystal Palace to score one or two goals.
The inability to take those chances ultimately cost them alongside a lapse in judgement in their own box at a key moment.
Refereeing inconsistencies are annoying but Palace have a bigger battle on their hands over the coming weeks in terms of results and performances to get their season kickstarted.
