Everton’s need for new full-backs becomes more and more apparent with each passing match, as their lack of depth and quality is woefully exposed.
Last match, as they hosted Newcastle United, the continued absence of Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson forced James Garner, a midfielder, to occupy their position, whilst Ashley Young had to shift across to cover left-back following another injury to Vitaliy Mykolenko.
Fitness issues have plagued the Toffees and Everton manager Sean Dyche all season, but in these two roles, it has hit them particularly hard.
Fortunately, Kevin Thelwell is clearly seeking to rectify that issue, starting at right-back.
Everton looking to sign talented Brazilian right-back
This latest report, which seeks to detail a fresh transfer target for the Toffees and many other Premier League clubs, comes courtesy of CaughtOffside.
They state that, whilst a £58m release clause remains, Santos could be willing to allow the talented Joao Pedro Chermont to depart for a cut-price following their relegation.

The report reads: ‘Several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Wolves, Everton, and Chelsea, have been closely monitoring the development of 18-year-old Santos sensation Joao Pedro Chermont, CaughtOffside understands.
‘Following their relegation from the top division last season, Santos are now open to offers below the talented young right-back’s £58million release clause to alleviate their financial difficulties.

‘Sources with a close understanding of the situation have informed CaughtOffside that both Arsenal and Chelsea are preparing to make opening bids for the Brazilian starlet, with the two London clubs having already engaged in discussions with Chermont’s inner circle.
‘Scouts from Premier League clubs have been spotted observing Chermont in a number of recent games, and it seems he’s clearly impressed potential suitors, with Arsenal and Chelsea ready to step up efforts to try to snap him up.’
Who is Santos talent Joao Pedro Chermont?
Joao Pedro Chermont, referenced by some as JP Chermont, is an 18-year-old full-back full of creativity and flair.
As is to be expected from a product of this infamous academy, the teenage sensation has become a quick-fire hero at Santos, having already outlined his offensive credentials with two goals and three assists in the Serie B last season.
It’s quite startling just how quickly he has risen to prominence too, having only made his first-team debut back in March and yet already becoming a staple for Brazil’s U20s.
The future seems exceedingly bright for Chermont, with prominent Brazilian football page, All Things Brazil, writing back in May: ‘Big talent. His name will be on the radar of many clubs very soon.’
Well, it seems that time has come, and it could mark a very serious statement of intent, once Dan Friedkin’s Everton takeover is complete, to beat the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal to his signature.
