So you’ll have guessed from my headline that I’m not a big fan of James Ward Prowse : when he arrived at West Ham United last year with a lofty £30 million price paid by Moyes, the expectation was already set far too high. For a midfielder who is a one-trick pony who then forgot his ‘trick’, it would be fair to say he disappointed last season. Fair enough, he delivered corners well. That was it. In midfield he and Tomas Soucek formed the deadly double pivot which moved side-side-back in an inevitable, dull defensive midfield waltz which lacked creativity.

So to me it was no surprise and no disappointment when he was loaned out on deadline day to Nottingham Forest. In fact I was glad as I’d hoped he might get that milestone free kick goal which he has been working on- seemingly forever and re-start his career.

Unfortunately today was not that day. After a first yellow card, he received what I have to say is one of the more humiliating second yellow cards and a sending off – for ‘falling over, diving toward and lying on the ball’. It’s not perfect because most of the full video feeds are banned from showing in the UK ,but – you’ll see what I mean: I’ve embedded the link from the clip on my twitter account: Sorry about the commentary which isn’t English but  I think means ‘What an A*******!!

Wait for it….

What you don’t get to see is that after the act itself he lies, head in hands, probably asking himself ‘why did I  just do that’ in what can only be described as a bad day at the office.
Sorry JWP to lampoon your mistake but this does just emphasise that the line between hero and pantomime villain is a fine one.
Just think how he will be treated by the Nottingham Forest fan sites for that.
