West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui has received plenty of criticism since he took over at the London Stadium.

However, he got one call absolutely spot on.

Julen Lopetegui was officially announced as the new West Ham head coach on July 1st, but after bringing nine new signings to the London Stadium, things haven’t gone as smoothly as expected.

Before the Ipswich game, there was even talk of the Spaniard getting the sack if results didn’t improve quickly, but he has apparently assured the board that he will turn things around.

The West Ham owners backed Lopetegui to the hilt in the transfer market in the summer, and now the onus is on the Spaniard to start producing consistently.

And hopefully after the win over the Tractor Boys, we will start to see the best of Lopetegui and his players.

The problem for Lopetegui is that things are set to get even more difficult for him, with six incredibly tough Premier League games lying in wait for us.

The pressure is still very much on the Spaniard. However, he should be getting huge praise for one decision he made in the summer.

James Ward-Prowse proves West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui right

West Ham allowed James Ward-Prowse to join Nottingham Forest on loan in the summer transfer window.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

The Hammers apparently received a £5 million loan fee for the 29-year-old midfielder.

However, in spite of that good business, some West Ham fans have criticised Lopetegui for letting Ward-Prowse leave.

Now though, the Hammers head coach has been proven 100 per cent correct as far as I’m concerned.

That’s because Ward-Prowse committed a truly embarrassing act for Forest away at Chelsea today.

The former Southampton man was sent off in the 78th minute after purposely handling the ball to prevent Nicolas Jackson from racing through on goal.

Ward-Prowse’s hand-ball was described as a ‘blatant act of cheating’ by BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella.

Here is the embarrassing act from the 29-year-old in all its glory:

The reason why that proves Lopetegui right is that Ward-Prowse had to handle the ball because of his lack of pace and athleticism.

Jackson was just about to race away from him, and may well have scored for Chelsea.

The 11-capped England international possesses an exceptional delivery, but his overall game is nowhere near Premier League level, in my opinion.

His performance and subsequent sending off for Forest today proves Lopetegui got the decision to move him on spot on.
