Chelsea will be without defenders Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana when they face Liverpool later this month after the duo were booked in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest. Both players were cautioned by referee Chris Kavanagh late in the second half after Noni Madueke's goal had cancelled out Chris Wood's opener, earning what was a hard-fought point for Enzo Maresca's side.
But after each collecting five bookings in the opening eight games of the season, Cucurella and Fofana will now serve a one-match suspension in Chelsea's next Premier League match. That comes against Liverpool on Sunday, October 20 with a 4.30pm kick-off inked in for TV.
Following this afternoon's match at Stamford Bridge, Maresca called on his side to be more disciplined after they were shown six yellow cards in that game. "I said many times it is something we need to improve," the Italian said.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will head into the game against the west Londoners top of the Premier League standings after Saturday afternoon's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. Diogo Jota converted from close range early on in the first half to ensure Arne Slot's side continued their impressive start to the season.
In his own post-match press conference held at Selhurst Park, Slot said: "We are hoping to do more special things than this. And it also says the luck I had that I inherited a very good squad and very good staff to continue getting the results that Jurgen had here as well."
Liverpool players are preparing to jet-off to various locations for October's international break. Upon their return, they meet Chelsea in the Premier League - followed by a Champions League match vs RB Leipzig three days later.
