Arne Slot will almost certainly have to make at least one change when Liverpool return after the international break. The Reds went into the two-week hiatus on the back of a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Diogo Jota scored the only goal of the contest at Selhurst Park as Liverpool retained their spot at the top of the Premier League table. The Reds are not back in action until they host Chelsea at Anfield in the top-flight on October 20.

Liverpool were dealt a major injury blow during the game when Alisson Becker was substituted in the second half. Alisson was replaced by Vitezslav Jaros for his first-team debut for the Reds, with the Brazilian appearing to suffer a muscle injury.

Slot stated after the game that he expects Alisson to be on the sidelines well after the international break and looks likely to miss the clash against Chelsea.

"The latest is that we don't know but what we do know is that if a player walks off like he did, that normally means that he is not in the Brazil squad and I don't expect him to be in the team in the first game we play after ," Slot told reporters on Saturday.

Caoimhin Kelleher was not in the matchday squad for Liverpool's clash against Palace due to illness. The Republic of Ireland international will hope to be available for the fixture against Chelsea in two weeks time, and if that is to be the case then Jaros would be expected to return to the bench.

Slot made four changes to the Liverpool team that beat Bologna in the Champions League in midweek. For Chelsea, though, Andy Robertson could return in place of Kostas Tsimikas at left-back.

In midfield, there is a question mark over the fitness of Alexis Mac Allister, who was substituted at half-time against Palace. Mac Allister suffered a potential groin injury, and it remains to be seen if the Argentina international will be fit to feature against Chelsea.

The forward line could also see Luis Diaz return to the line-up, although Cody Gakpo impressed on the left wing against Palace with an assist for Jota's goal. It remains uncertain if Federico Chiesa will return from a fitness issue to be involved when the Premier League returns later this month.

Potential Liverpool line-up vs Chelsea: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk; Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota
