Crystal Palace wonderkid Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is now starting to shine at Sheffield United.

Chris Wilder had already praised Rak-Sakyi at the beginning of September, saying that the Crystal Palace academy graduate is “going to be a player” later down the line.

However, despite several exciting displays, the 22-year-old was yet to score or assist in seven Championship outings for the Blades.

That was before Saturday – however – as two goals from the England U20 international on his 22nd birthday secured a 2-0 win for Sheffield United against Luton Town, who had Victor Moses starting in attack, and left the Blades second in the Championship.

Moses actually used the facilities at Crystal Palace to build up his fitness ahead of that summer switch to Kenilworth Road.

After Jesurun Rak-Sakyi shone, Chris Richards sent his Crystal Palace teammate a message on Instagram.

The man from Southwark is clearly a popular figure back at Selhurst Park, as a number of his Crystal Palace teammates congratulated him on his brace.

MORE PALACE STORIES

Richards said “(it was) meant to be” in the comments section as Rak-Sakyi celebrated both his 22nd birthday and his two goals, while David Ozoh also wrote “they’re not ready” to his fellow academy graduate.

Michael Ebiowei and Tayo Adaramola also congratulated the winger.

After another disappointing result back at Crystal Palace, as Liverpool recorded a 1-0 win on Saturday, it did at least bring some comfort to see Rak-Sakyi net two goals at Bramall Lane.

How Crystal Palace gem Rak-Sakyi performed statistically

Rak-Sakyi, who Crystal Palace can recall in January, obviously did well against the Hatters with two goals, but let’s take a look at how he performed aside from those strikes.

As SofaScore shows, the Londoner took 52 touches of the ball and was very tidy in possession, completing 26 of his attempted 29 passes with a 90% success rate.

Two of those went down as key passes.

Rak-Sakyi also completed four successful dribbles and won four tackles, on a day where he was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch until he was withdrawn by Wilder in the 66th minute.

Hopefully, if the Sheffield United No.11 keeps this up, Crystal Palace will trigger that recall clause in January.
