Chelsea’s biggest signing of the summer (so far) has been midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who has followed his manager from Leicester City down to Londontown and is, presumably, set to keep playing an important role in Enzo Maresca’s tactical thinking.

That familiarity has undoubtedly helped Dewsbury-Hall settle into his new surroundings, but he’s also made some fast friends already — or reconnected, as in the case of Ben Chilwell, who also came up through the Leicester youth system.

Overall, he’s just loving life so far as we start preparing for the challenges ahead.

“It’s been amazing so far. I have really enjoyed the first few weeks. I’ve absolutely loved every day coming in, excited to work with everyone. Everyone is at such a high level, and the lads have been so welcoming so I can’t thank them enough.

“I’ve really got on with them. It’s helped that I knew quite a lot of them before, but it’s just nice to meet them properly and talk to them. They’re all top, and the staff are fantastic, so I’ve been absolutely over the moon with the way it’s gone in these weeks.

“Having a history with the staff has certainly helped. They’re all really top guys but also fantastic coaches who keep things professional. That was nice to see them again after a long summer off.

“It was a nice feeling to get in, it was a complicated and stressful time over the summer but once you’re in the door you feel happy and excited to go. That’s the way I’m feeling now.”
