Many Sunderland players have reacted to Romaine Mundle’s performance in the draw vs Leeds United.
The Black Cats managed to get themselves a solid point at the Stadium of Light against Leeds United following a calamity moment late on courtesy of Ilian Meslier.
Sunderland certainly deserved a point after they went head to head with Leeds United, and whilst it took a moment of fortune for the Black Cats to get level at the death, anything less than a point would have been disappointing in the circumstances.
There were many brilliant performances on the field, in particular from Sunderland full-back Dennis Cirkin, who looked to cause the Leeds United defence some serious issues on the offensive, whilst also putting in a notable defensive shift.
On the other hand, Dan Neil was yet again somewhat off the pace and it could be argued that Regis Le Bris made the wrong call to choose him over goalscorer Alan Browne.
One other performer was Romaine Mundle, who was called upon by his boss to find some consistency in his play, and whilst he was unable to notch a goal to help Sunderland along their way, he still made a difference on the wing for the Black Cats.

Sunderland stars react to Romaine Mundle after Leeds United draw
Sunderland winger Mundle has surprisingly managed to replicate the performances of the departed Jack Clarke, who joined Premier League outfit Ipswich Town this summer.
Whilst Clarke is no longer at the club, it is clear that he keeps an eye on the team and his former teammates as he responded to Mundle’s recent post on Instagram, where he wrote: “️️️.”

Elsewhere, current Sunderland players also showed their support for the winger as Aaron Connolly wrote: “”, whilst Eliezer Mayenda left a comment that read: “️️.”
Sunderland wide threat has been major boost for Regis Le Bris
Throughout the 2023/24 campaign, barring the odd moment of brilliance from Clarke on the left wing, there were very few displays of solid attacking football on display from Sunderland, particularly in the latter stage of the season.
Patrick Roberts will be the first to admit that he was massively off the pace on several occasions last season, and the improvement in his attacking play under Le Bris has been nothing short of staggering.
Both him and Mundle have become Sunderland’s main attacking outputs this campaign, and there is no doubt that their success up until this early stage of the 2024/25 Championship season can be placed at their feet.
It was uncertain whether the hole left by Clarke would leave Sunderland short in attack, but there are no doubts that Mundle has done more than enough to fill his shoes.
