Real Madrid could accelerate a move for Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold after seeing first-choice right-back Dani Carvajal suffer an ACL injury on Saturday evening.
Los Blancos have been heavily linked with Alexander-Arnold, whose Liverpool contract is up at the end of the season, and are free to negotiate with the England international from January onwards should the player's situation remain unchanged.
Talks with the Reds' right-back may now be a serious consideration due to the fact Carvajal sustained a major injury blow during Real's 2-0 win over Villarreal on Saturday that is expected to leave him sidelined for several months.

I will have to undergo surgery and be off the pitch for a few months. I'm already looking forward to starting the recovery and coming back like a beast. Thank you all very much for your messages, I feel very loved."
Such news will only add to worries over Alexander-Arnold's future, which remains uncertain. The same also applies to Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, though Liverpool would be losing a player at the peak of his powers in their No.66 were he to depart.
Discussing his contract situation back in September, the 25-year-old said: "I have always said I want to captain the club, that is an aim of mine and a goal of mine, (but) whether that happens is out of my hands. Look, I have been at the club 20 years now, I have signed four or five contract extensions and none of those have been played out in public. And this one won’t be either. "I want to be a Liverpool player this season (as a minimum) is what I will say."
"The most important thing is always trophies, if I am honest, " he added. "I want to win trophies, I am a player who is highly motivated by trophies and winning things and being elite. So that is probably the main factor of anything, if you have a personality that is elite, who wants to win and will do anything to win, then that is what drives me.
"We were close to the title last season and we got a cup. The quad was on for a while, I suppose, the signs were there. This season we are looking really good, it is still early days, but we need a lot of consistency and to beat a lot of teams over the course of this season.
"Then you have the other cups, the Champions League and everything that comes around it. It will be difficult but we are looking to win as many trophies as we can."
