Dan Bardell thinks Unai Emery will “unleash” a front two against Manchester United after Jacob Ramsey suffered an injury for Aston Villa.

The academy graduate was withdrawn in the first half against Bayern Munich on Wednesday (2 October) to be replaced by Leon Bailey.

If the Englishman misses out against the Red Devils, Emery will be forced into a change to his starting XI at Villa Park on Sunday 6 October.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell can see Jhon Duran coming in for Ramsey to start alongside Ollie Watkins in a front two.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I think because of injuries, there are going to be a few players missing.

“By the end of the Bayern game, there was a lot of players who weren’t on the pitch for Villa.

“I think that Ramsey going off will mean that Rogers moves to the left and Emery will play Duran and Watkins against Manchester United and just get at them to take advantage of any weaknesses.

“The last two players that Manchester United will want to face right now is Duran and Watkins.

“I think because of injuries, Duran has done all he can and Watkins is just brilliant, Emery will unleash a front two.“

Jacob Ramsey could miss Aston Villa v Manchester United

There is a chance that the attacking midfielder could feature against Erik ten Hag’s side but it would certainly represent a risk.

It could prove to be an ideal tactical decision for Emery to start with a front two against a fragile Red Devils back line.

In the Europa League, they conceded two to Samu Omorodion who profiles similarly to Duran in certain aspects which could see the Colombia international thrive once again.

Watkins ran Dayot Upamecano ragged against Bayern so there is every chance that he could do the same against the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez in a poor run of form.

There is plenty to examine about that game but with the Villans being as good as they are right now and United struggling, it feels as if this result should go one way but that isn’t how Aston Villa work against Manchester United.
