Everton had to face Newcastle United without Jarrad Branthwaite and Vitalii Mykolenko on Saturday, and Sean Dyche provided an update on the pair after the game.
Everton are slowly starting to find their feet in the Premier League this season after picking up three points last time out. They were arguably unlucky not to secure all three against Newcastle.
The Toffees were denied a stonewall penalty, as Craig Pawson waived appeals after a challenge from Dan Burn on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and VAR seemed to agree.
VAR’s explanation just wasn’t good enough, with the Newcastle player clearly going through Calvert-Lewin’s foot in order to get to the ball.
This comes after Asmir Begovic called for VAR to make some changes this week.
After the game, Sean Dyche provided an update on both Vitalii Mykolenko and Jarrad Branthwaite, who both missed the game through injury.

Jarrad Branthwaite returned to action in Everton’s win over Crystal Palace last weekend, but suffered an injury in training which forced him to miss Saturday’s game.
Vitalii Mykolenko picked up a calf injury, which ended up being broken before even Dyche could announce it by the Ukrainian media.

In his press conference after the game, Sean Dyche provided a bit of an update on their situations (as per BeanyManSports).
“Yeah, Myko later in the week, that was kind of Wednesday, Thursday. Jarrod, we probably knew a bit earlier, Monday, Tuesday, when we were looking at it going. I mean, you know, these are maybes.
“And we have to be careful they’re just coming out of injury or certainly Jarrod is. We’re hopeful that he’ll be back for the next one and we’ll have to wait and see.”
Everton’s upcoming Premier League fixtures
Everton have a nice run of games coming up after the international break, with Ipswich Town, Fulham and Southampton on the agenda.
Sean Dyche will be desperate to build on this decent performance, which arguably should have been rewarded with a penalty.
It’s clear to see that the Toffees are moving in the right direction after a worrying start.
The international break provides Dyche with the perfect opportunity to work on nailing a few of the negatives, as well as getting Branthwaite and Mykolenko back to full fitness.
