Mateo Kovacic scored his first brace for Manchester City in their 3-2 win over Fulham in the Premier League.

The midfielder made his eighth appearance of the season in the match against Marco Silva’s side at the Etihad Stadium.

After being an unused substitute in City’s 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League, the 30-year-old completed the full 90 minutes in Saturday’s comeback win over Fulham.

Six minutes after Pep Guardiola’s side found themselves 1-0 down in the first half, Kovacic bagged his second league goal of the season to put the home team level.

The Croatia international then scored again just two minutes into the second half to put City ahead for the first time.

With the match ending with the two sides bagging another goal each, Kovacic shared some big praise for the efforts of another City player who had a big impact on the match.

Mateo Kovacic hails Jeremy Doku for his goal in Man City vs Fulham

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (via BBC Sport) after the match against the Cottagers, Kovacic had this to say when asked about the goal Jeremy Doku scored in the second half to help City secure the win.

He said: “That’s what you ask from a great winger, to make the difference off the bench and he did great. It was a good game today.”

What did Guardiola say about Doku’s goal against Fulham?

After replacing Jack Grealish in the 62nd minute, the £50k-a-week scored what ended up being the winning goal with a sweetly-struck strike on the edge of the box.

Kovacic isn’t the only person to share their praise for this goal from the winger, as Guardiola said that Doku’s goal against Fulham was “incredible” in terms of the way he hit it.

With Kovacic now describing the 22-year-old as a great winger and praising the impact he had on the game against Fulham, this should fill Doku with a lot of confidence which will hopefully see him deliver similar sort of performances throughout the remainder of the season.
