Anthony Elanga, the former Manchester United winger now at Nottingham Forest, is hoping for a repeat performance against Chelsea. He scored his first goal for Forest in a surprise 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge last season.
Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham ahead of Forest's trip to west London, Elanga said: "Hopefully we can go there, just be brave and believe we can go there and win," adding that he believes the team has the players to do so. Despite respecting Chelsea's strong start to the season, Elanga highlighted the form of Cole Palmer, a player he knows well from their academy days in Manchester.
He also mentioned other key players such as Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke and Jadon Sancho, who he described as a friend and someone who has had a good start to the season. However, Elanga emphasised the importance of sticking to Forest's game plan.
The club's away form has propelled them into the top half of the Premier League table, with both of their wins coming from 1-0 victories on the road at Southampton and Liverpool. Elanga, a Sweden international, commented on the team's strong away performances and their promising start to the season, despite some missed opportunities.
He concluded by acknowledging the team's disappointing home loss to Fulham, viewing the upcoming match against Chelsea as an opportunity to bounce back.
Nottingham Forest's fixtures are currently the lowest-scoring in the Premier League, having only 11 goals - six for and five against - across their first six matches. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has praised his team's cohesion, commenting: "The team has been solid and compact but it’s about teamwork."
He further added, "(It is) not only the defensive line and midfield, it starts with pressure from the front and covering the spaces."
Looking ahead to their upcoming match against Chelsea, he acknowledged, "It’s going to be very important against Chelsea because they have good players and play good football. It will require a lot of hard work from us."
