Trent Alexnader-Arnold has broken his silence following Liverpool's 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace. The 25-year-old defender played a crucial role in Arne Slot's side at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon as the Reds bagged three crucial points in the title race.

While Liverpool cruised past the Eagles, Manchester City and Arsenal also enjoyed wins, defeating Fulham and Southampton respectively. The Merseyside outfit still tops the Premier League table, leading by just one point.

Nevertheless, after the game, Alexander-Arnold marked the trip to in south London with a celebratory post on Instagram. The England international published a selection of photos from the Crystal Palace clash, racking up a quarter of a millions likes in just a couple of hours.

Alexander-Arnold captioned the post: "See you after internationals Reds ." Friends, family and colleagues all flooded the comment section with messages of support, with one from Ibrahima Konate standing out.

"YOU ARE MY BROTHHHHHHHHHH," wrote the Liverpool centre-half in full capitals. Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz also heaped praise on the right-back, posting fire and clapping hands emojis.

Supporters also made their feelings clear, urging Alexander-Arnold to sign a new contract. The 25-year-old defender faces an uncertain future at Anfield, as things stand, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

"Sign the contract pls," wrote one user, who goes by @luis_g_m12. From January, clubs from abroad will be able to open pre-contract talks with Alexander-Arnold over a proposed free transfer next summer unless, of course, he signs an extension beforehand.

If he does not commit his long-term future to the club, they will be forced to make a tough decision. The Reds must consider whether they'd rather risk losing Alexander-Arnold for free, if talks prolong, or cut their losses and cash-in during the upcoming transfer window.

When speaking to reporters at Selhurst Park on Saturday, there was no talk of the defender's future. Instead, Slot was asked what for the secret to Liverpool's strong defensive record in the league.

"There’s a lot going into this, there’s a lot of answers to tell you to give you a good answer," said the Dutchman, as quoted by the official club website. "But one of the things is, I think you saw today how much we controlled the first 60 minutes. Then we had a difficult spell for 15 to 20 minutes.

"And then in the last 10 minutes we took control again. We took control by having a very good build-up and that helps to also tire – I don’t know if that’s the way you say it – but tire the opponents because they have to defend a lot, they have to run a lot to make it difficult for us.

"And then the work-rate our attackers and midfielders put in is also extraordinary, and that combination with a few other things – because it’s also the quality of the centre-backs and the goalkeeper – leads to so many clean sheets."
