Diogo Jota's early goal was sufficient to earn Liverpool victory on an incident-packed afternoon at Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Reds won 1-0 to temporarily move four points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

The triumph came at a cost, however, with Alisson Becker suffering what appeared a hamstring injury in the second half which, with Caoimhin Kelleher absent through illness, meant Vitezslav Jaros made his senior Liverpool debut between the sticks from the bench.

The ECHO was at Selhurst Park and here we run the rule over the Reds players after a ninth win in 10 games in all competitions this season.

Alisson Becker 8

Nothing to do first half until additional time when got down well to his right to keep out Sarr’s angled drive. Decent stops from Nketiah and Eze second half until seeming hamstring injury. Subbed.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 7

Teamed up with Konate to defend Eze well before break and forced Henderson into save with drive, but pushed on to back foot later on.

Ibrahima Konate 7

Defended aggressively on the front foot and dominated Nketiah during first half. Hesitancy coughed up Palace chance later on, though.

Virgil van Dijk 8

Wasn’t allowed to settle in possession by strong Palace pressing but remained composed and few issues defensively. Stepped up second half as the home side pressed for equaliser.

Kostas Tsimikas 7

Fine pass released Gakpo to create opener and strong enough in the rearguard. Can be happy with showing. Subbed.

Ryan Gravenberch 7

Excellent in keeping hold of and moving on possession and good engine to cover Palace runs before break. Second half a bit more difficult, however, as home pressure intensified.

Alexis Mac Allister 6

Seemed a little jaded and lost on occasion amid the tall Palace midfield but tried to keep finding pockets. Booked and subbed.

Mohamed Salah 6

Didn’t get much out of Mitchell and then Chalobah but a relentlessly willing runner. Shot saved from Henderson second half. Subbed.

Curtis Jones 7

Guilty of a succession of fouls but kept the ball well in the number 10 position. Moved into deeper role second half and didn’t shirk responsibilities.

Cody Gakpo 7

Some strong running down the left flank, assisted the opener and helped out defensively. Hard running helped in closing stages. Booked.

Diogo Jota 7

Took the opening goal superbly and dropped off the front line when required, but not enough purchase on another opening and should have scored again second half. Workrate immense.

Dominik Szoboszlai (for Mac Allister 46) 6

Had a couple of shots from range and tidy without having major impact.

Luis Diaz (for Salah 72) 6

Created one chance and almost wriggled his way through during additional time.

Vitezslav Jaros (for Alisson 79)

Unexpected debut for the third-choice goalkeeper and kept a clean sheet.

Andy Robertson (for Tsimikas 80)

Kept it simple during his time on pitch.

Wataru Endo (for Jones 89)

Brought on to help see the game out.
