Sasa Kalajdzic has revealed when he could return to the pitch after suffering his third career ACL injury back in February.

Despite signing for Wolves over two years ago, the Molineux faithful have not seen much of Kalajdzic in action.

On his debut in the 2022/23 campaign, the striker suffered an ACL injury which took him almost a year to recover from.

Going into the following campaign, the Austrian was like a new signing and netted winners against both Everton and Bournemouth early on.

However, after limited game time, Kalajdzic was loaned out to Frankfurt in Germany where he once again did his ACL in February.

Now, after almost eight months out, Kalajdzic has revealed when he plans to return to action.

Despite his long-term injury, Kalajdzic was a surprise inclusion in Wolves’ Premier League registered squad this season, sparking hopes that he may return soon.

While the striker is not a first choice for Gary O’Neil, he is no doubt a great option from the bench.

As he aims to return to fitness, Kalajdzic told Sky via Heute that he plans to return to the pitch this year.

He said: “I’m on a very good path and will soon be at the end. I would say that I’m already in the last third. It depends on whether everything continues to run smoothly.”

He then added: “I would like to be able to play another game this year, or one or two games. But I’m not putting any pressure on myself. There’s no pressure from the club either.”

While Kalajdzic hasn’t had many opportunities for Wolves when he has been fit, his return would no doubt be a big boost to the club.

When given a chance, the striker would often find the next and score an important goal.

Kalajdzic’s importance at Wolves may now increase after the signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen. This is because O’Neil can then make a like-for-like change which could help maintain momentum.

Hopefully, the striker will return before the end of the year so he can help the club climb further up the Premier League table.
