Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has praised Liverpool's continued hunger for success under new boss Arne Slot, while urging his team at Selhurst Park to rediscover their form. Despite the summer departure of Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have maintained impressive momentum, winning their last five fixtures across all competitions and suffering just one defeat so far.
The Eagles face a challenging match against the Reds after a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Everton—even though they started strong with an early lead. Ahead of the Saturday 12:30 pm kick-off, Glasner expressed admiration for how Dutch coach Slot has enabled a seamless handover, topped off by a solid 2-0 Champions League victory over Bologna.
"Liverpool are doing quite well – (they have) fantastic players, a new manager who is doing a fantastic job," Glasner said in his press conference. "The squad has stayed together, nobody left, all the players look very hungry, very ambitious.

But we also want to play forward, we want to score a goal – because if we don’t score a goal, we can’t win."
Last weekend, Palace's early lead came courtesy of defender Marc Guehi at Goodison Park, but the advantage was lost to Dwight McNeil's brace. Glasner is acutely conscious of the team's need to begin securing victories in the league, especially considering their only triumphs this season have come against Championship sides in the Carabao Cup. "I think that there is no button we can press, so it is hard work," he said.
"But it was the same last week, and it was in every club I was – it is hard work, nothing happens from itself. I said I have confidence because I see the players working to get back into their best shape, and we are getting players back getting into the rhythm.
"We will get our results. We have to play better over 95 or 100 minutes, this is what we know.
"We have parts in the game where we do it really well, but we have still parts where we don’t do it well. At Everton we lost the game within 10 minutes (in the second half), so we have to be more consistent all over the entire game."
There's potential for some positive news on the player front for Palace as defender Trevoh Chalobah may make his first appearance for Palace since arriving on loan from Chelsea after being on the bench at Everton. In midfield, Cheick Doucoure's return is on the cards post recovery from a toe injury, potentially re-joining training during the international break.
However, Matheus Franca has encountered another injury blow. Discussing the 20-year-old Brazilian who's yet to feature this season, Glasner revealed: "It is his abductor groin. It is a tough situation for him especially and for us.
"I don’t expect that he plays many games for us in 2024. We don’t know exactly how long it take, but it will take several weeks."
